Prep Your Home For A Spring Sale

If you're planning on selling your home this spring, we are getting dangerously close to the spring market boom, are you and your home prepared for droves of visiting home buyers?

Getting your home prepared for showings is one of the most important things you can do to help sell your house as quickly as possible. Buyers are going to be visiting multiple homes when shopping and comparing your home to the others they've seen, it's important to make your home stand out among the competition.

The first best thing you can do to help your home standout is some simple landscaping. Buyers are going to be judging the minute they pull up to the curb, hence the term "curb-appeal". By planting some fresh flowers and shrubs, and covering any beds with fresh mulch, you're adding "make-up" to the already pretty face of your home. If you can afford to, add or paint your shutters, and pressure wash your siding and walkways.

If the buyers make it past the front door, you want to make sure the home is odor and clutter free. Visitors are going to be imagining what its like to live there, so they're going to want a blank canvas to project their dream home. It's easy for agents to suggest you keep your home in some sort of Ikea-display state, but that's not always practical. It's best to ask your selling agent to restrict your showings to give some notice so that you can clean and organize before buyers visit.

Keeping your house in pristine order can be difficult and taxing, especially if you are juggling lives and kids, but if you keep it tidy, and price it right, chances are you wont need to do it long, most homes sell within the first 45 days, and most showings happen on the weekends.
